Plane slides off runway in Stratford
(AP) - A plane that was testing its brakes slid off the runway at Sikorsky Memorial Airport.
Nobody was injured in Friday morning's incident and airport officials say the plane was never airborne.
John Ricci, the airport manager, says the accident happened about 11:30 a.m. as the twin-engine Baron airplane was undergoing maintenance and testing its breaks on a secondary runway.
Ricci says the plane traveled about 20 feet onto the grass at the end of the runway. He says the brakes smoked, but both people on board the plane were able to get off safely.
