Fairfield PD: 10-year-old girl drowns in Lake Mohegan

Fairfield police say they pulled an unconscious child from Lake Mohegan earlier this evening.
Officials say that the child was submerged in the lake for 45 minutes. The child was found in the north side of the lake, where no swimming is allowed.
Police say there were several children in the lake at the time when the 10-year-old girl went underwater and out of sight.
The young girl was found almost an hour later by a Fairfield Police Department Dive Team member. Officials say the family is from Bridgeport.
The girl was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
