Police try to reign in Westport pooch snatcher
Norwalk and state police are searching for a suspect who stole an expensive puppy from a Westport pet shop this afternoon. The owners of Puppies of Westport say a man and a child came into the store to purchase a $3,800 English Pit Bull. They say they were having trouble entering the man's credit card information when the pair ran out of the store with the dog and drove off. According to police, the getaway truck had a stolen license plate. The owners say they called American Express to inquire about the card, eventually learning that it was fake. The credit card number belonged to a Norwalk man, who has since been notified about the transaction. Anyone with information is urged to call Norwalk police at 203-854-3000.
