Norwalk standoff ends; suspect in custody
A standoff between Norwalk police and an armed suspect ended peacefully this afternoon with the suspect taken into custody.
Police responded to a 911 call this afternoon on Hillside Street, when a suspect's girlfriend called after breaking up with him. Responding officers say the suspect was threatening to kill himself and threatened others when patrols responded. One shot was fired by the suspect, but no one was hurt.
The suspect surrendered after an hour, at which point he was taken into custody and a lockdown on a local preschool was lifted. Police say the suspect, whose name hasn't been released, will face a charge for unlawfully discharging a firearm.
