Police: Apparent murder-suicide may be linked to family business
Police in the Westport and New Haven police departments are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving two brothers and a fight over their family business. Authorities say Daniel Shwisha apparently shot his brother, Gordon, outside the business in New Haven. They say the suspect then drove to Westport, where he allegedly shot himself in his parents' home on Rustic Lane. Westport police say they received a call from someone inside the home indicating that a man had just shot himself and they weren't sure if he was breathing.According to state business records, the brothers ran a light fixture manufacturing called Electrix. Gordon Shwisha was secretary and Daniel Shwisha was a director, but sources say he was fired a few months ago. Investigators say they are unsure what provoked the shooting, but hint that there might have been a dispute over the company.
