$8K raised for dog struck on I-95 in Bridgeport
A dog that was hit by a car and found badly hurt on I-95 in Bridgeport Monday had surgery Wednesday thanks to a good Samaritan, a veterinary surgical team and the public.
The dog is being treated at the VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Shelton, where employees say the Staffordshire terrier was brought in after he was attacked by a dog and then hit by a car near exit 30.
The dog, known as Staffie, underwent nearly five hours of surgery for a fractured pelvis.
Some good Samaritans brought the dog to the center, but veterinary staff were unable to locate the dog's owners.
The staff started a GoFundMe account called 'Save our Staffie,' and has raised over $8,000 to cover the cost of the surgery and the rehabilitation needed after surgery.
