Storms knock out power for thousands in Redding
Tuesday's thunderstorms knocked down trees and left nearly 2,000 people in Redding without power.
Redding officials say Eversource Energy is expected to work throughout the night to repair the damage.
Metro-North service was also affected by the fast-moving storm. One resident said he was delayed near the Branchville stop because of several branches on the tracks.
Officials say many streets were closed as a result of downed trees. They asked residents to be safe, remain vigilant and stay off the roads, if possible.
There was no word on when power will be restored.
