Residents call for cleanup on fire's anniversary
Today marks one year since a massive warehouse fire broke out in Bridgeport, causing several residents to evacuate their homes.
The community says that so far, no work has been done to clean up the mess in the neighborhood.
Residents say their primary concern is that parts of the dilapidated warehouse are still standing and have become an eyesore in the neighborhood.
Some residents say the owner is sending a very clear message to the people of the neighborhood by not removing the remnants of the scorched warehouse, namely that the owner does not care.
An EPA official told News 12 that the cleanup could cost upward of $1 million and that they're hoping to be reimbursed by the owners.
