Arrest made in Bridgeport murder
Bridgeport police say they arrested a man today in connection with a murder last summer.
Police arrested Gregory Hughes, 33, this morning and charged him with conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Derrick Hill. Officials say they had been looking for Hughes for several months.
Officers say Hill had just left work at a restaurant when he was shot and killed on Park Avenue in July.
Investigators say Hill tried to escape by running back inside, but was shot several times. Police Chief AJ Perez says it was one of the worst scenes he's witnessed on the job.
Police say Hughes is one of two people responsible for Hill's murder. They hope to make a second arrest by the end of the week.
Hill's family thanked Perez for Hughes' arrest. Hill's mother said it was the best Mother's Day present she could have asked for.
