Reports of shots fired prompt brief Bridgeport school lockout
Bridgeport police are asking for the public's help this morning tracking down the gunman who fired several shots at a home near a city school.
Police say they responded to a report of shots being fired just after 1 p.m. Monday at the corner of Thorme Street and Amsterdam Avenue, near Blackham School. Officials say no one was allowed in or out of Blackham School for about 15 minutes until police could make sure the surrounding area was safe.
Police shut down parts of the street as officers spent about an hour looking for evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Police say they found shell casings near the school, but are hoping someone will be able to provide them with more information.
