A 68-year-old man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car Wednesday morning in Stamford.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. as the man was crossing Hamilton Avenue just east of the Culloden Road intersection in the city's Glenbrook section. Police say the victim was not using the crosswalk when he emerged between two vehicles stopped at a red light.
"We interviewed the operator of the vehicle," says Stamford Police Sgt. Christopher Weed. "He stated that he did not see him crossing in between the cars and when he finally did see him, he was unable to stop before the collision occurred."
Police say the driver has not been charged and is cooperating with the investigation.
Police say the victim is in intensive care and listed in stable condition after suffering head trauma and multiple injuries to his torso.
