The Connecticut House of Representatives on Thursday postponed a vote on Gov. Dannel Malloy's proposal to overhaul the bail system and cut down on pretrial detention for some defendants.
The bill would prohibit judges from setting cash bail for anyone charged with a misdemeanor, with exceptions for dangerous offenders.
Legislators said they did not feel comfortable voting on the proposal Thursday.
Malloy said the state could save $15 million a year in unnecessary court costs.
