CT's 1st female House speaker comments on Clinton win
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is now the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee following Tuesday's primary elections, and News 12 spoke with the first female speaker of the House in Connecticut about the historic win.
Moira Lyons is to date still the only woman to hold her position. As a young girl, she says she never thought about the possibility of a female president as there wasn't a pathway for women back then.
Clinton herself sent out a tweet Tuesday night saying, "To every girl who dreams big: Yes, you can be anything you want - even president. Tonight is for you."
Lyons says she hopes Clinton's presumptive nomination might make more women consider the possibility of getting into politics, whether it be on the local, state or national level.
