Stamford police say two people were injured in a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning on South State Street and Elm Street.
They say a 21-year-old woman called 911 around 2:40 a.m. to say that she and a 28-year-old man had been shot.
According to police, the victims had just left a nightclub on Greenwich Avenue and were heading toward I-95 when someone pulled up next to them and started shooting.
Police say the woman was shot twice and the man was shot six times, but they were able to drive themselves to Stamford Hospital where they received treatment.
The woman underwent surgery and is in stable condition, officials say. The man's condition is unknown at this time.
Police say a shell casing found by investigators is consistent with an AR-15 type of style rifle.
Stamford police say they were targeted for some reason and are currently investigating a possible motive.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Stamford police.
