Police: Truck driver faces charges for illegal possession of handgun

Greenwich police say a Florida man is facing charges this afternoon after he admitted to having a loaded gun and ammunition in his vehicle.

Police say 37-year old Carlos Echevarria is a truck driver who stopped for a routine credential check at the Greenwich weight scale station yesterday.

They say Echevarria had a handgun in the truck, but not a valid Connecticut weapons permit.

Additionally, police say Echevarria had a high-capacity magazine capable of holding 12 rounds as well as a prior felony conviction.
