Cookout fosters police, community relationship in Stamford
Stamford police and dozens of residents gathered in Carwin Park Tuesday night to help foster relationships between the police force and the community.
Police say the annual cookout called "Take Back Carwin Park" has helped them reduce crime in the neighborhood.
They tell News 12 that community gatherings are the best way to foster a relationship with police.
The event is being held in the wake of the ambush in Dallas that left five police officers dead, as well as two police-involved shootings that fueled protesters across the nation.
