Norwalk woman drives car into pool
An elderly woman crashed her car through a fence and landed in a condominium complex pool in Norwalk Friday.
Marian Mucci, 72, landed in the water after she mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake as she was parking her vehicle.
Robert LaRusso says he and his two sons were in the pool of the Foxboro Court condo complex at the time of the accident. They heard the sound of the car accelerating toward them before the Toyota Camry splashed into the pool.
No one was injured in the crash.
Anthony Mucci, the woman?s husband, says she was very shaken, but otherwise unharmed thanks in large part to LaRusso and his sons. They helped push the car to the shallow end of the pool, opened the window and extracted her.
?I don't know if we saved her,? LaRusso says. ?We just helped her out.?
The sunken car was later pulled out by a tow truck.
The pool at Foxboro Court remains closed. The Norwalk Department of Health was called in to inspect the water in order to ensure that it was not contaminated. Health officials have not yet determined when the pool will reopen.
