Public works employee hit by car in Norwalk
A public works employee is recovering at Norwalk Hospital after being struck by a car Tuesday morning in Norwalk.
Police say Neil Dennehy was on his rounds collecting trash on Quintard Road when he was hit around 10 a.m. Witnesses say the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck Dennehy, who was crossing the street near his truck.
?He dumped his garbage can and when he went ? back across the street, the guy hit him clean,? witness Joe Cruz says.Dennehy also serves as a volunteer firefighter for the New Canaan Volunteer Fire Department.
Police are investigating the accident. It is unknown whether the driver is facing any charges. There is no word Dennehy?s condition.
