Victim identified in fatal Norwalk stabbing
The man stabbed in the middle of a crowded Norwalk street Friday has been identified as 20-year-old VonTerrel "Jamel" George, a father of two from Bridgeport.
Police say an officer noticed some commotion going on at the intersection of Woodward and Burrit avenues at the time of the murder. By the time police arrived, George was found dead. He was stabbed multiple times.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots amid the commotion at the scene. Police are not saying if the stabbing was gang-related.
George's killer remains at large. Police say due to the amount of people in the area, there must be someone who saw something. They urge anyone with information to contact the Norwalk Police Department at (203) 854-3074.
