Bridgeport police bust suspected heroin ringleader
A man allegedly busted by Bridgeport police with more than $40,000 worth of heroin is facing serious charges Thursday.
Police arrested the accused mastermind of the heroin ring Wednesday in the parking lot of a Stratford Home Depot. Authorities say they found the drugs carefully hidden in the suspect's vehicle.
"Half of it was secreted in a hidden compartment [that] uses a hydraulic piston to open up the console in his car and operated electronically and uses a magnet for a key," says Bridgeport Police Department Lt. Chris Lamaine. "That's probably where he's been keeping the heroin as he transports it back and forth on the highway."The arrest was the result of a four-month probe that involved investigations across the tri-state area. Several police departments and the FBI worked together on the case.
