The Urban League of Southern Connecticut held its second education summit in Stamford Thursday as a way of preparing teens for important life lessons.

The summit focused on African-American economic substantiality. The group says the goal of the summit was to focus on future financial responsibility aimed at keeping the state economically vital.

According to the league, African-Americans face even greater challenges after they graduate from high school. The group says graduating students face unemployment, credit card debt and a lack of affordable housing.

The summit was sponsored by several southwestern Connecticut corporations, including Pitney Bowes, UBS and General Electric.
