Renewed talk of selling Sikorsky Memorial Airport may result in Bridgeport closing its $16 million budget gap.

Bridgeport has owned the 800-acre space, located in the Lordship section of Stratford, for 60 years. Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch and Stratford Mayor James Miron plan to meet Monday to discuss the possible sale.

"I think whenever Stratford and Bridgeport can have an open and constructive dialogue on this great resource that's been kept down for so long, it's good for all of us," Finch said.

The mayor said the sale should ensure the expansion and development of the airport, which currently does not provide freight or corporate service.

Finch said the airport is just one of many municipal properties being considered for sale.
