33-year-old Greenwich market closing its doors

Longtime customers of a Greenwich market will soon be saying goodbye to their favorite grocery store.

Porricelli?s market on East Putnam Avenue and Strickland Road is closing its doors after doing business for the last 33 years. Many customers say they?re devastated by the closure of their only neighborhood grocery store.

To many shoppers, losing Porricelli?s is like losing a family tradition. Some customers say they are disappointed to hear a CVS is replacing it.

CVS purchased the space and plans to start construction in the spring.
