Police: Holiday shoppers vulnerable to thievery

Holiday shoppers looking to get some last minute gift purchases in are being advised to stay alert and keep their guards up.

Police say with extended holiday hours at many stores, criminals are given the perfect opportunity to prey on the vulnerable. The holidays typically bring increased reports of thefts, according to police.

Shoppers are being advised to watch out for potential thieves looking to steal recently bought presents. Police are also telling shoppers to park in well lit areas and avoid carrying a lot of bags at the same time.

Shopping bags left in the car should be kept out of plain view as well, according to police.
