Rell may form exploratory re-election committee
(12/17/07) HARTFORD (AP) - Gov. M. Jodi Rell says she may form an exploratory committee to run for re-election in 2010. The Republican governor, who was elected to her first full-term in November 2006, says she'll make the decision next month. Under state law, an exploratory committee can be used to raise limited funds to conduct polling and research. There's been uncertainty at the state Capitol about whether Rell would seek re-election. Already, several potential Democratic opponents have been mentioned as possible candidates for the election, still three years away. They include House Speaker James Amann, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy, and New Haven Mayor John DeStefano. Rell says she likes the job and is proud of the work her administration has done.
