Grinch steals Fairfield club's 9-foot Christmas tree
A florist came to the rescue Thursday after a Grinch stole a club?s Christmas tree.
Members of the Junior Women?s Club of Fairfield left a 9-foot tree on the back porch of the Burr Homestead building as they readied the inside for a holiday event. When members arrived the next day, they discovered the tree was gone.
"I couldn't believe it. This is the Christmas season," said member Cheryl Eustace. "For something like this to happen for an event that's put on for the community and for kids ? we were past flabbergasted."
However, a local florist swooped in and gave the club another tree. The event, A Visit to Santa's House, will go on as planned. The club has hosted the family friendly outing for the past 27 years.
