Robber gives Fairfield woman rude awakening
A burglar was caught red-handed in a Fairfield woman's bedroom Tuesday, but fled before police arrived.
Police said the burglar broke into the back door of the house, located at Villa and Nichols avenues, around 2 a.m. The victim awoke to find a man standing in her bedroom and screamed.
"We believe that this individual was not looking to confront the homeowner," said Capt. Gary MacNamara, of the Fairfield Police Department. "[He] was just gonna take some items and leave."
The thief got away with credit cards, cash and a cell phone.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Fairfield police at 203-254-4800.
