Friends remember Milford man killed in tanker crash
Friends and family are mourning the loss of a Milford man who was killed in a tanker crash on I-95 in East Lyme Friday.
Friends say Fred Held, of Milford, was driving back from the Mohegan Sun when the tanker crashed into his car.
Barry Baker says he knew something was wrong when his friend didn?t show up to work at Baker's Bar and Grille in Milford. Baker says he?s still in shock.
Held?s family and friends describe him as fun-loving, funny and spontaneous. They say he lived life to the fullest. The 33-year-old bartender was also an avid sports fan and loved the Mets.
Environmental crews are still cleaning up oil after the crash that killed three. The driver of the tanker, 51-year-old Peter Derry of Massachusetts, was killed as was the other person in the car with Held, 54-year-old Luann Dugas, of East Lyme.
A wake will be held Monday evening in Milford.
