Bridgeport candidates attend forum as election nears
With Election Day a little more than a week away, candidates in several Bridgeport races joined to talk about the issues at a political forum Sunday.
The forum, hosted by Congregation Rodeph Sholom?s Men?s Club, featured candidates for Fairfield, Trumbull First Selectman and Bridgeport mayor.
For Democratic mayoral candidate State Sen. Bill Finch (D- Bridgeport) and Republican Mike Garrett, the final days of campaigning are really their first. Garrett says until this week he didn't know exactly who he was running against.
The results of the Democratic primary were tied up in court for weeks because State Rep. Chris Caruso (D-Bridgeport) challenged the results. Finch was just recently declared the winner when a judge decided to uphold the primary results.
Garrett says much of the media attention was on the legal action, and he?s hopes the media will now focus on the candidates.
Finch and Garrett say they?re going to use the final days of campaigning in a productive way by getting their messages out.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6.
