A convicted Darien rapist is expected in court Tuesday a month before his scheduled prison release.

Alex Kelly was charged with raping two high school girls in 1986. He fled to Europe for eight years and later returned to the U.S. He was convicted at his second trial in 1997. He was given a 16-year prison sentence and fined $10,000.

In 2005, the state parole board denied Kelly an early release.

The Department of Corrections estimates Kelly will be released from prison on November 17.
