A Stamford man is under arrest after police say he abused 21 dogs in his home.
Police say Michael DeMarco faces 21 counts of animal cruelty. They say they found 21 beagles in the house surrounded by feces. Animal control took the dogs and the health department was called in, according to police.
The health department condemned the house and officials were in the process of getting the power turned off, Stamford fire officials say.
Neighbors say they often heard loud barking and smelled a foul stench coming from the home.
DeMarco was released on $21,000 bond.
