Friends say final farewell to News 12's Bill Gonillo

Friends, family members and people throughout southwestern Connecticut gathered Thursday to say a final farewell to a member of the News 12 Connecticut family, Sports Director Bill Gonillo.

Gonillo died of natural causes in his Woodbridge home Sunday. He was the sports director at News 12 Connecticut for 12 years.

Funeral attendees remembered Gonillo as a man who always smiled. Friends say Gonillo had an appetite for life. Some remember Gonillo as a practical joker who often provided the punch lines.

But beyond the humor, those at Gonillo?s funeral say he had a heart bigger than life itself. Gonillo was 44 years old.
