Police arrest man in near-fatal hit and run

Police have arrested a man they say repeatedly attempted to run a Bridgeport man over with his car.

Marc Silver is being charged with attempted murder, assault and running from the police. He is currently being held on $250,000 bail.

Officials say the suspect ran over 49-year-old Edward Cox several times on Hollister St. in Stratford Thursday. Cox is in the hospital with serious injuries from the incident.

Stratford police say they were able to detain Silver after a brief chase. Investigators are trying to determine if the two men knew each other prior to the attack.
