A teenage pageant queen is using dodgeball to combat teen smoking.
Nineteen-year-old Barby Giannettino, the reigning Miss Connecticut Homecoming Queen, helped organize a dodgeball tournament for the Teen Smoke Stoppers Program. The fundraiser was for St. Vincent?s Swim Across the Sound, an organization aimed at helping cancer patients ?deal with real life issues.?
?We took what they love and took a great cause and put it together and we got a great result,? said Giannettino.
The teenager said the event was partly inspired by the 2004 Ben Stiller movie ?Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.?
