FBI helps catch ex-con accused in Norwalk stabbing

Norwalk detectives, along with help from the FBI, arrested an ex-convict Monday accused of stabbing a woman during a house robbery last week.

Police say the suspect, Jerry Mitchell, was released in May after serving nearly 30 years for murder. He is now facing more charges, including robbery and assault.

According to police, Mitchell broke into his neighbor?s home and stabbed a 64-year-old woman in the thigh. Police say fingerprints at the scene confirm Mitchell was there.

Police say teamwork with the FBI helped catch Mitchell along Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk.

Mitchell is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
