Police arrest man accused of killing Bridgeport toddler
Bridgeport police arrested Monday the man believed responsible for driving drunk and killing a 20-month-old girl on Independence Day.
Clayton Luf, 41, of Monroe, was charged with manslaughter, reckless driving and driving under the influence in connection with the July 4 crash on the corner of Connecticut and Hollister avenues in Bridgeport. Luf allegedly lost control of his Mercedes Benz and pinned Kayana Brayboy to the front of the Connecticut Food Market. The girl died six days later.
Brayboy's family complained last week that the police investigation was taking too long. Police said they wanted to guarantee all their information was accurate before bringing Luf in.
The victim's uncle, Lamar Norris, said of the arrest, "I feel that it's finally justice. That's all I wanted, is to see him behind bars." Norris added: "He killed an innocent little girl from drinking and driving."
Luf is being held on $75,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
