Shooting at Milford hotel leaves 1 dead
A man is behind bars for allegedly shooting and killing his adopted son at a Milford hotel Thursday.
Police say Tony Lee Simmons, 37, was shot in the chest by his father, 66-year-old James Street. The incident occurred at the Residence Inn on Rowe Avenue around 1 a.m. Thursday. Simmons was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he later died.
Police believe the man and his son got into an argument inside the hotel, and the father pulled out a gun. They say Street then called police to report the incident.
Police say Street and Simmons are from South Carolina and had been living at the hotel while doing contracting work in Bridgeport.
Street faces a charge of first-degree manslaughter.
