Stamford man drowns in Blakeslee Pond
Police are investigating the drowning death of a Stamford man whose body was pulled from a pond Tuesday morning.
According to state police, Devin Gaines' body was pulled from Blakeslee Pond in Deep River around 3 a.m. They say he was swimming with friends in an area marked "No trespassing."
Gaines, who received five degrees from UConn, had recently been interviewed for an upcoming edition of News 12 Connecticut?s ?Our Lives.? He had just been accepted to New York University to work on his master?s degree, and recently started a job at Stamford-based Pension Associates.
The victim?s mother is still trying to cope with the fact that her son is gone.
?It?s pain, it?s anger, a mother is not supposed to lose a child,? she said. ?I love him. I wish he was here.?
Police do not believe foul play was a factor in the death. Gaines was just one week away from his 23rd birthday.
