Senior center extends hours as temperatures soar
(06/27/07) MILFORD - Senior citizens are flocking to the Milford Senior Center Wednesday in order to cool off.
The center has extended its hours to 8 p.m. for those who need to get out of the heat. The AC is blasting inside as seniors line dance and eat lunch.
The senior center says it is important to help people cool off, especially those with lung conditions. Not everyone has access to air conditioning at home, and for many seniors the center is a great escape.
Meanwhile, Norwalk will open a community room at the police station and will also provide space at its libraries for people to beat the heat.
