Fairfield police say they arrested two burglary suspects Tuesday thanks to the suspects' choice of car.
Police have been looking for a ring of burglars who steal Audis and use them to burglarize convenience stores and gas stations. Police say they arrested 27-year-old Robert Lee Whitted and 34-year-old Juan Maldonado, both from Bridgeport, while the two were driving a stolen Audi.
According to police, when they came upon the suspicious vehicle, the suspects rammed into the police car and sped away. After a chase, the two suspects crashed again into another police car, then tried to flee on foot near Mill Plain Road.
The two face several charges including larceny, possession of burglary tools and assault on a police officer. Police are still looking for a third suspect who got away.
