Authorities are trying to figure out what caused a small plane that left Long Island to crash in eastern Connecticut.

Two people on board were killed Sunday after their plane dropped from the skies near Windham Airport. Cops say the pilot tried to land, then aborted and hit some trees about an hour after taking off from Calabro Airport in Brookhaven. The victims' names haven't been released.
