The poor conditions at Walter Reed Medical Center has forced U.S. leaders to take a closer look at other veteran hospitals around the country.

U.S. Rep. Chris Shays and Sen. Joe Lieberman spent about an hour Friday touring some of the facilities at the VA Hospital in West Haven. Both men want to ensure that veterans are being treated well and receiving proper medical care.

Shays heard several complaints from veterans but would not elaborate. Shays and Lieberman both said they will continue to visit VA Hospitals and further their dialogue with the veterans that use them.
