Governor Rell sworn in to first full term as state's leader
Governor Jodi Rell (R-CT) was sworn in Wednesday to her first full term as the state's leader following her election in November by a landslide.
The swearing-in of Rell and her constitutional officers took place in the atrium of the Legislative Office Building. Rell will also preside over the state's first inaugural parade and ball since 1999.
"This is a day of new beginnings, new promise and a renewedcommitment," Rell said. "It is a day marked by pageantry andpurpose, a day of high spirits and higher expectations."
Priorities for this session include addressing rising energy costs, health insurance for Connecticut's uninsured and education funding reform. Lawmakers and Rell must also agree on a new two-year budget.
Rell was lieutenant governor when she succeeded John Rowland, who resigned in the summer of 2004.Related information:Footage of Rell Inauguration
