High-speed chase begins in Stamford and ends with two fiery crashes
A high-speed chase in a stolen car started in Stamford and ended with two car crashes on I-95 Thursday morning.Police say 21-year-old Steven Pellot, of New Haven, stole a Mercedes Benz that had been left running while the driver used an ATM. Police followed Pellot onto I-95 North around exit 6 and the chase began. Pellot slammed into a car, causing it to crash into the side of the highway. The crash victim was a producer from News 12 Connecticut who suffered only minor bumps and bruises.Stamford police called off the pursuit after the accident, but state police used a spike strip to flatten the car's tires near exit 16 causing Pellot to crash into a tractor-trailer. He was taken to Stamford Hospital where he remains under guard. Police say Pellot has six previous arrests.
