Communities hold hurricane drills
Emergency responders across the state held drills today to practice handling a Category 1 storm.
Connecticut's Emergency Operations Center coordinated with more than 120 communities this weekend and today for the drill.
In Stamford, police, firefighters and city management officials gathered at the government center to plan.
Gov. Dannel Malloy was in Milford for the drills taking place there. First responders were tested with a flooding and rescue scenario. He said he wants everyone to be prepared just in case.
Experts are predicting between eight and 13 named storms this hurricane season, but there is no way of knowing if any of them will impact Connecticut.
The exercise was all part of the governor's Emergency Preparedness and Planning Initiative. This is the third one under Gov. Malloy.
