New Canaan DPW worker Ben Olmstead hit by car

New Canaan police say a public works employee was seriously hurt after he was hit by a car yesterday.



It happened at the intersection of New Norwalk Road and East Avenue just before 11:30 a.m.



Police say Ben Olmstead, 71, of Norwalk, was marking the road with spray paint when the car hit him.



He was taken to Norwalk Hospital.



Officers say the driver stopped immediately and waited for police to arrive.
