Johanny Chavez, of Port Chester, accused of attacking Greenwich woman

A man from New York is facing charges for allegedly kidnapping, raping and trying to strangle a Greenwich woman he had been dating.

Police in Port Chester say they arrested Johanny Chavez, 26, on Monday after his 19-year-old girlfriend reported the incident to Greenwich police.

Officers say Chavez abducted the teen from her home in Riverside on Friday after they argued over text messages and phone calls.

They say he took her back to his home and attacked her, but she escaped Sunday.
