A Stratford man is dead following a multi-car crash on I-95.

The crash occurred just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday on the northbound side, between exits 17 and 18 in Westport.

Police say 22-year-old Alan Alexis got too close to the car in front of him, swerved and hit the other car. They say Alexis' SUV rolled over at least twice and he was ejected, as he wasn't wearing a seat belt.

Alexis was pronounced dead at Norwalk hospital.

Police say shortly after the accident, another car hit Alexis' SUV and drove off. They say that car had nothing to do with his death.

Part of the highway was shut down as police investigated and cleared the scene.

Police say three women were in the other car, but weren't hurt.
