Gov. Dannel Malloy kicked off the state's annual Summer Reading Challenge.
During a ceremony at the State Library Friday, Malloy honored Connecticut students and school representatives for their achievements in last year's challenge.
The statewide program recognizes schools with the highest participation rates and the highest number of books read per student.
It also supports local programs run by the state's public libraries.
