BRIDGEPORT -

The family of a New Haven man who was fatally shot in Bridgeport is calling on their loved one's killer to come forward.

As News 12 has reported, 43-year-old Lawane Toles was found shot to death near Wentfield Park around 9:30 p.m. on May 24.

His family described him as a kind-hearted person who was very giving and caring.

Toles' mother, Sondra, says her son worked for the City of New Haven Sanitation Department, and was in the process of making a career change into the field of health care when his life was cut tragically short.

She says Toles was a gifted singer who was well-known in the community for being a peaceful man devoted to his family.

His death marked the city's 12th homicide of the year.

Anyone with information is asked to call 203-576-TIPS.
